About Susan K. Ipacs
This scholarship honors Susan Ipacs, in memory of her lifelong contributions to nursing.
Remembered for her compassionate nature, Sue exemplified the skills and qualities needed to be a successful nurse caring for the sick. She worked to foster those qualities for future generations as associate dean of the Hocking College School of Nursing. As a nursing instructor and associate dean, Sue strove to ease the burdens and obstacles facing students while nurturing the passion to help others.
She hoped that students pursuing nursing degrees understand and always remember the consecrated role they will have in the lives and deaths of their patients and their patients’ families.
This scholarship honors the work and life of Susan Ipacs – nurse, instructor, mother, wife and friend.
Eligibility Requirements and Criteria
Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Enrolled in an accredited postsecondary nursing program and completed at least one year of the program, with priority given to students attending Hocking College or any Ohio University campus
- Reside in and attend school within Ohio’s 32 Appalachian counties, with priority given to students who reside in and attend school in Athens, Hocking, Vinton, and Ross counties
- Demonstrate financial need/hardship. This will be the primary consideration in awarding the scholarship.
- Have at least a 2.66 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Recipients shall be chosen on the basis of character as evidenced by their values, attitudes and personal conduct as applicable to the nursing field and demonstrated in their personal statements and nomination forms.
