In 2011, the Governor’s Office of Appalachia in conjunction with Connect Ohio and Chesapeake Energy established the two-year Connect Appalachia Broadband Initiative (CABI), to address the broadband divide facing rural Appalachian Ohio. Administered by Connect Ohio, the CABI Task Force was made up of public, private, and nonprofit leaders.
The CABI Fund was established at the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio in 2012 to provide support to Connect Ohio’s efforts to increase broadband adoption and access in Appalachian Ohio. The CABI Fund is one component of the CABI initiative that will carry on beyond 2014.
