Lawrence County Community Foundation

Matching funds available! The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio is providing a 50-cent match for every $1 given to any endowment within the Lawrence County Community Foundation’s family of funds. Matching funds can also be used to help start a new endowed fund and for new documented planned gifts. A total of $300,000 in match funding is available on a first-come, first served basis through Nov. 8, with up to $100,000 in match available per household.

The Lawrence County Community Foundation (LCCF) was established in July 2022 as a vehicle for attracting resources that can be invested to benefit Lawrence County residents today and into the future. A local community fund of the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO), LCCF is committed to increasing opportunities for Lawrence County communities and residents by inspiring and supporting philanthropy. The Lawrence Economic Development Corporation, Ironton-Lawrence County Community Action Organization, and Lawrence County Commission spearheaded the creation of the new fund.

Grant Opportunities

The Lawrence County Community Fund is partnering with FAO’s I’m A Child of Appalachia® Fund to provide a grant opportunity to nonprofits, schools, and public organizations working to benefit Lawrence County residents.

2023 Grant Recipients

  • HomeTown Love of Chesapeake to support a beautification project that will include building a stone flower bed, installing lighting and placing flower pots by the village’s welcome sign near the Sixth Street bridge
  • inspiHER Girls Leadership Foundation to support the inspirHER Girls Leadership Retreat for Lawrence County fifth- through eighth-grade girls at South Point Middle School
  • Ironton aLive to help purchase storage containers that will be painted with Appalachian-themed murals at the children’s splash park
  • Tri-State STEM + M Early College High School received two grants: (1) to purchase new computers and (2) to support the development of a student-led musical that highlights the positive impact of the arts on mental health
  • William C. Lambert Military Museum and Archive to support the creation of a new exhibit, “The Korean War: Soldiers Stories of Lawrence County”
  • Impact Prevention, the grant will be used to help fund a youth-led weekend conference in which high school-aged youth serve as mentors and educators for fifth- and sixth-grade students

Contributions to the fund are tax deductible and can be made in a variety of ways, including: outright gifts of cash or long-term appreciated securities; memorial gifts of cash or assets in memory or in honor of someone special; and deferred gifts through bequests, life insurance, and charitable remainder trusts.
