Harrison County Community Foundation Fund

Matching funds available! The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio is providing a 50-cent match for every $1 given to any endowment within the Harrison County Community Foundation’s family of funds. Matching funds can also be used to help start a new endowed fund and for new documented planned gifts. A total of $300,000 in match funding is available on a first-come, first served basis through Nov. 8, with up to $100,000 in match available per household.

The Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF) was founded in 2012 to create opportunities in our county and to give us all a place where we can give back to make the biggest difference in Harrison County. HCCF has been growing permanent funds to invest in our county’s nonprofits, schools, and communities.

Grant Opportunities

The Harrison County Community Foundation is partnering with FAO’s I’m A Child of Appalachia® Fund to provide a grant opportunity to nonprofits, schools, and public organizations working to benefit Harrison County residents.

  • Deersville Community Players to enhance areas in the theatre used for costume and prop storage

  • Harrison County Genealogical Society to provide painting supplies for a new mural paying tribute to the people who won Cadiz the “Proudest Small Town in America” award in 1939

  • Humane Society of Harrison County to supports its Trap, Spay/Neuter, and Shelter Project
  • The iBELIEVE Foundation to fund the participation of Harrison County youth in the 2024 iBELIEVE Youth Leadership Workshops
  • Lakeland Academy Community School to purchase educational supplies and snacks for before- and after-school care
  • Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio to help cover overnight stays for Harrison County families

Recent Projects

In addition to encouraging investments to provide grants and leadership for quality of life projects in Harrison County, the Community Fund also serves to encourage and support others in establishing funds to benefit the County’s organizations and citizens, including: scholarships, organizational endowments, school system endowments and other advised funds.

The Harrison County Community Foundation recently launched its Puzzle for Prosperity campaign to develop $1 million in permanent dollars to benefit Harrison County for years to come. To learn more about the Puzzle for Prosperity, please visit the campaign webpage.

Contributions to the fund are tax deductible and can be made in a variety of ways, including: outright gifts of cash or long-term appreciated securities; memorial gifts of cash or assets in memory or in honor of someone special; and deferred gifts through bequests, life insurance, and charitable remainder trusts.
